Nils studied in Bayreuth for a B.A. in International Economy and Development and topped this with a Master in International Economics and Public Policy in Trier. This economic expertise wasn’t the only reason he joined Urgewald’s coal team in 2019 as researcher and campaigner. Five years previously, Nils did an internship with us and he and Urgewald got to know and very much appreciate each other. At the time, Nils and colleagues “dismantled” the Norwegian Pension Fund and could prove how deeply the fund was entangled in the coal industry. Nils collected further experience with Union Investment and Triodos Bank.
Currently he is developing our oil and gas database together with the GOGEL research team. He is also conducting talks with financial institutions to convince them of our data.
Nils has a ‘Super Power’ – his tunnel vision, which is legendary: it allows him to work on data banks non-stop for 13 hours! He diverts his attention away from numbers with music – mainly Jazz, Blues, Rap and everything in between.
