NTPC

NTPC is the world’s top coal plant developer and has a long history of abusing environmental and human rights in India. But in recent years its notoriety has grown internationally due to its ongoing construction of the Rampal coal plant in Bangladesh, which threatens the world’s largest mangrove forest, the Sundarbans, which are also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Barclays has channeled over US$ 300 million into NTPC through underwriting its bonds.
