Barclays is one of the main investors in Exelon. Exelon amongst others wants to dump the United States’ gas glut onto the rest of the world by shipping gas, fracked from the Permian Basin and the Eagle Ford Shale, overseas. LNG terminals drive further extraction of fossil fuel sources that need to be phased out. These terminals proposed on the Texas Gulf Coast would mean hazardous air pollution for nearby low-income Latinx communities, “permanent and significant” impacts to endangered animals such as ocelots, destruction of sacred Indigenous sites, and the same damage to the climate as approximately 61 coal plants.
